Here is what I think.

He is not insane by any means, perhaps on drugs, but not going mental.  His untouched beard and hair are just a disguise.  He is acting in character for some project of sorts and he has been having Casey Affleck videotape him…

Joaquin says he quit acting to persue a hip hop career.  Yup.  I believe that.

I’m kind of curious to see where this goes but at the same time getting annoyed and bored with his random fights and outrages…
