Don’t Miss The Inner Sanctum 18th Anniversary Concert On The Pier This Saturday!!!

Tomorrow, Inner Sanctum (as heard on Radio 92.3) will be celebrating 18 years of Pat The Producer and friends pimping out local music to Cleveland by throwing a huge festival downtown.

Featuring live music by a bunch of great Cleveland musicians/acts like the Suede BrothersPrisoners,  Craig Ramsey, Leah Lou & The Two Left Shoes and many more, this is going to be one hell of a day-long fest!!!

The fun starts at 1pm on Saturday the 20th at The E. 9th Pier located next to the Rock Hall.  There will be plenty of local food vendors to keep your stomachs full and even an on site tattoo shop if you care to get that tramp stamp you always wanted (I actually told Pat that I would get Pat The P tattooed on me if someone else paid for it…).

Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.  If you would like to purchase tickets now, click HERE and grab one!!!

See you there tomorrow!!!

The Dumb: Coheed & Cambria Bassist Arrested

Seems as if Michael Todd, Coheed and Cambria‘s bassist, felt it necessary to rob a Walgreens of some Oxycotin the other night right before a show.  Apparently he showed the pharmacist a note on his phone saying he had a bomb, stole 6 bottles and then fled the scene in a taxi that dropped him off at the venue the band was playing at.

Seriously?

There are a few aspects to this event that just have me scratching my head:

  •  First, you are a rock star, don’t tell me that no one could score you a mind altering drug at the venue.
  •  Second, you are a rock star…  Who the hell in their right mind robs a Walgreens, mind you, the day of a show that you are more than likely getting paid a pretty penny for?
  • Third, a cellphone note?  Really?  Wow dude.  I guess it’s better than a machete.

Coheed and Cambria posted a statement on their Tumblr page:

Michael Todd was arrested today on what we consider very serious charges and therefore he will not be finishing up the current tour. Wes Styles, long time member of the Coheed family will take on bass duties starting tomorrow for the remaining dates. No shows will be canceled.

We are surprised to say the least and will address the situation with Michael after the tour. For now, we just want to have a great time out here and finish with some killer shows in Boston, Poughkeepsie, Quebec City and Halifax.

I’m glad the band was able to continue and I hope that when they say “address the situation” it means “kick him out of the band”.  Millions of kids look up to you, way to be awesome about it Michael Todd.  Hope it was worth it… Dumb ass.

Those Darlins Return To Cleveland This Fall

You know, it’s been a while since I mentioned the southern bell brat pack also known as Those Darlins…  Might as well pimp them out now for a moment while I have your attention.

Many Cleveland fans were bummed to learn that Those Darlins dropped off the bill last June.  They opted to do so in order to perform a benefit show, so I guess we can not be too mad at them.

Regardless, they have yet to make a stop in Cleveland in 2011 and it looks like this Fall will be the next time they drop by.

On October 12th, Those Darlins will be playing a show at the Grog Shop with Peelander-Z.  Can you say awesome!?!?

Stay cool Cleveland.  The girls and Lynwood will see you in a few months…

Speaking of awesome…  Looks like the girls and Lynwood are getting some well-deserved attention:

Too bad I would never drive that toaster in public.

EP Review: The Wealthy West – Volume 1 – An EP

I am back.  That’s right folks, I survived the mean streets of West Virginia once again.  After a week-long escape from everything, I am back.  I have a test already in the class I decided to take this summer so most of this weekend will be focused on studying for that.  I am, however, in need of a break so I thought I would hammer out a quick review of a pretty sweet up and coming folk act.

I would imagine that most of my readers know I have a certain love for Austin, TX.  I think everyone needs to check out that amazing city at least once in their lifetime.  I know I am itching to get back there one day soon.  Anyways, I speak of Austin because that is where Brandon Kinder who goes under the moniker The Wealthy West resides.

Many may know Kinder from The Rocketboys, an indie rock group that he supplies lead vocals to.  Kinder decided to try something on his own, a more personal folky project he calls The Wealthy West.  Fans of soft-spoken indie / folk music (Americana) will really get a kick out of his five song EP entitled Volume 1 – An EP.  It is powerful in the heartfelt department and can easily be compared to Ray LaMontange, Joe Purdy, Frightened Rabbit, and even that of the Avett Brothers.

“Love Is Not Enough” starts off the EP with a nice acoustic riff accompanied by piano playing making for a fun track that just seemed to end way too soon.  “Another Bad Idea” followed in a more gentle indie rock sound that included background vocals and even chimes.

Once I heard “Give Me Resurrection”, I could not help but think of Purdy and LaMontange as Kinder sings slowly over a faint playing acoustic guitar accompanied by whispering background vocals.  The song was really a beautiful piece to check out and had powerful lyrics focusing around the strength of love.  “Home” picked things up in the EP with harmonica joining Kinder’s signing.  “Not A Pretty Pair” ended the quick EP with a more driven sound throughout although singing of remaining stationary due to lack of time.

It’s no mystery anymore, Americana is where it’s at these days and Kinder has no problem writing his own songs to accompany the latest and greatest of a very solid genre of music.  Volume 1 – An EP was a nice and quick listen leaving me, the listener, wanting much more to hear.  With only five songs, I am curious to see what else Kinder has to offer in the near future.

Download This!: Minus The Bear – Hold Me Down EP

One of my favorite indie/rock/happy bands, Minus The Bear, have decided to post their new EP titled Hold Me Down for free download (see below for link).

The EP features the title track (off of OMNI), three live tracks recorded at the Dangerbird Records studios, a b-side titled “Broken China” and a “My Time” remix.

Did I mention it is free? I think I did. You know what to do…
