Free Show Tonight @ The Rock Hall w/ Murder By Death & The Buried Wires

Created by Aaron Seachrist at OKpants.com

Summer is coming to an end folks, but that does not mean it is over just yet.

Tonight the very talented Indiana rock/country act Murder By Death will be playing a FREE show at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum.  This show will take place outside in front of the Cleveland staple and is open to everyone who attends.

I just checked the weather and it looks like it is going to be the perfect evening for an outdoor show.  I have been getting in to Murder By Death over the years after being introduced to them through some friends of an ex of mine.  At first I was not entirely sold, but the more and more I listen to them, the more I really appreciate their style.  This is a band that I have been wanting to check out live for a while now.  Looks like that will happen tonight.

Local rockers The Buried Wires will be opening the night off around 7pm.  Make sure you get there in time to see this up and coming act.  Named by Scene Magazine as a “Band To Watch” in 2010, it is safe to say they will be putting on a great show.

The FREE show is part of the Rock Hall’s Summer In The City Series and sadly, this is the last one of the year. Summer in the City is sponsored by Ohio Natural Gas, Magic Hat Brewing Company, Amtrak, KeyBank and Jim Beam.

The Joy Formidable To Play Free Show Wednesday At The Rock Hall

Designed by the ever cool Aaron Seachrist @ okpants.com

In case you hadn’t heard, UK’s The Joy Formidable are going to be playing a show this Wednesday at the Rock Hall around 7pm.

Did I mention the show is FREE?  Well, you will need to cart your booty down to Cleveland one way or another, but you get the idea.

As part of the awesome Summer In The City Concert Series, The Joy Formidable and Cleveland’s very own HotChaCha will play in front of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum to everyone who shows up.  This series is a great way to check out new bands and just enjoy an evening in Cleveland for no charge.  I missed the first two already this summer, but will be sure to make it to this one.

I have the feeling this is going to be one of those shows that should not be missed.  I envision an all around good time already.  I know some of my pals from 92.3 Radio will be there as well as other good folk.

If you have not heard any material by the three-piece, 90s rock comparable sounding, female-fronted band yet, check out some videos below.  They’ve been around since 2008 and really have a sweet sound to them.  Rolling Stone recently nominated them as a band to watch.  Not to mention the lead female vocalist is a total fox…

(I did not know Roseanne had a cameo in this video)

Atari Teenage Riot Return To Cleveland!

I may very will lose my hearing at this show and I am perfectly fine with that…

The last time I saw Atari Teenage Riot live was in 1998 when they opened up for Wu Tang Clan and Rage Against the Machine. I only caught a couple songs from them but loved it. I was a fan already but just could not get into Blossom that quickly. I also missed them when they played with Beck at the J.A.R.

This time I don’t plan on missing them. This show is going to be insane.

Monday Sept. 26th @ Peabody’s – Tickets $17 / $20 d.o.s.

Wagons Return To Cleveland!!!

I just learned today that Melbourne, Australia’s  Wagons will be returning to the states this September!  After missing my chance to see Henry Wagons and his band at SXSW, the band announced that they will be back in the US touring in support of their soon to be released album Rumble, Shake and Tumble. They are even making a stop in Cleveland on Sept. 11th at the Beachland Tavern.

I caught Henry playing a solo last year when he opened for Those Darlins at the Beachland Tavern and I became an instant fan.  He told me later that night that he could not wait to bring the rest of his band back to the states and started telling me about all the American food he was digging.  He was a funny and genuine guy.  If you like your music a little bit of country rock a’la Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings and are just looking to be rowdy and have fun, you should not miss this show.

Check out the video for “I Blew It” off of their album that should be dropping on August 16th:

I plan on not missing this show.  Of course this will be taking place the day after Warrior Dash which I have decided to attempt…  I think I will be fine…

What the hell am I thinking??? Stay tuned for the results on that one.

The Menzingers Drop Video For “Irish Goodbyes”

One of my favorite up and coming punk acts, The Menzingers, have just released a video for “Irish Goodbyes”. This song is a brand spanking new track that will appear on a summer compilation.

Check it out:

The Menzingers: Irish Goodbyes from Love Drunk on Vimeo.

Fun little fact about this video: It was taken in one take (audio / video / live footage).  Impressive.

The Menzingers will be playing Cleveland soon.  If you have not seen them live yet and enjoy good punk rock, then you have no excuse to not hit up this show.

Sat. June 18th @ Now That’s Class
